PVC alternatives for your labels and personalized cards
Tested and validated by Edikio’s R&D and Quality departments, this range is suitable for a wide range of applications and delivers a professional, high-quality finish.
The Edikio range of consumables offers three alternatives to PVC media:
- PLA/BOIS cards
- paper cards
- recycled PETG cards
These alternative cards to the reduced environmental impact Edikio Guest and Edikio Price Tag software programs offer a host of advantages, including multiple black monochrome personalization options. They are ideal for use in the hotel and restaurant trade, as well as in certain retail outlets (wineries, delicatessens, etc.).
PLA/BOIS cards: the sustainable alternative to PVC
With their natural wood look, PLA/BOIS cards offer many of the same advantages as conventional PVC cards. They are:
- Durable
- Easy to clean
PLA/wood cards are made from biobased materials, some of which are recycled:
- Polylactic acid (PLA) is a sustainable plastic substitute made from renewable bio-sourced resources such as corn and sugar cane and is non-petroleum-derived and non-toxic.
- Wood fibers are co-products of the industrial processing of PEFC-certified wood from sustainably managed forests.
PLA/BOIS cards with standard CR80 dimensions (0.76mm thick) are compatible with: Edikio Guest and Price Tag – Access and Flex.
They can be printed with BLACK RMS monochrome ribbon and are also compatible with Edikio accessories.
Paper cards: an alternative for short-term use
Paper cards are ideal for short-term use (a few hours to a few days) or for applications that require little handling.
They are:
- Thick
- Wrinkle-proof
- Premium quality thanks to their premium feel and brilliant whiteness
They offer high-quality black and white printing at a low cost for the following applications:
- Price labels for packaged products
- Luggage tags
- Event cards
- Loyalty cards
- Gift cards
Paper cards are made from 100% natural, renewable materials, with no added plastic. The paper is FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified from sustainably managed forests. Printed paper cards are biodegradable, compostable, and easily recycled (they can be sorted with the paper).
Paper cards with standard CR80 dimensions (0.76mm thick) are compatible with:

- Edikio Price Tag Access, Flex, and Duplex
They can be printed with BLACKFLEX monochrome ribbon and are also compatible with Edikio accessories.
Recycled PETG cards
Thanks to their aesthetic and professional black monochrome finish, recycled PETG cards are a perfect match for:
- The presentation of buffets or high-end products and services offered by hoteliers and restaurateurs.
- The aesthetic presentation of specialist shops and certain products for retailers.
With their white monochrome printing on a black matte-finish background, they look similar to PVC cards but are just as high-quality and professional. They’re easy to clean and tough enough to withstand frequent handling. What’s more, they’re dedicated to the food industry.
